PHILIPPINES

Over three trips to the Philippines Nichola Clarke has engaged students from primary schools to experience art in various forms from painting to sculptures.

These photos are from a couple of workshops created by Nichola. The bird project was a huge success and was very typical of funk the junk. The parents of the students all helped by going into the forest and cutting down bamboo to build flying birds with every child in the school participating.

The birds were made from PVA glue, tissue paper, feathers and an assortment of decorations.

The students sat under the trees on the ground to make their birds, it was a great success and the children had a fantastic time.

The best thing about this project was they got to play with them.
